Rhino.Ecologic®
Rhino.Ecologic® is an ecological simulation framework for Rhino and Grasshopper developed by McNeel Europe. It embeds dynamic vegetation modeling, biodiversity assessment, and biomass simulation directly into parametric design workflows — making ecological performance a measurable design parameter from the earliest stages of a project.
Capabilities
- Ecological analysis — spatiotemporal species distribution maps for terrain, building envelopes, and urban forms
- Biodiversity prediction — dynamic maps of potential plant species for a given design space
- Environmental mapping — soil, precipitation, and solar illumination maps derived from 3D geometry
- Data export — geometry-linked ecological datasets suitable for ML workflows and advanced analysis
